The Prosecution's Witness(es)

When the judge calls your case, go forward to the area designated for the defense.

Your actual trial begins with the prosecution presenting its case. This usually means that the officer who wrote the ticket will get up and give his/her testimony.

Listen carefully and take notes.
(For help in taking notes I recommend using the Trial Checklist on the Traffic Citation Clinic web site.)

Do not interrupt the officer. Let him/her finish with his/her version of the testimony.

If you disagree with anything the officer says, make a note of it. You will get your opportunity to ask him/her about it during cross examination.

Now let's move on to the cross examination.
